The Field of Study Requirement

The Edmonds School District believes that all high school students should pursue learning experiences that are highly relevant to their particular interests and post-high school goals.  To this end, all students are required to complete a 2 credit program of study connected to one or more of the following Field of Study area(s) through which they can develop skills, understand concepts, and explore career and educational opportunities in depth within a focused area of interest.  This 2 credit program of study should occur sometime between the 10th and 12th grade years, and provides the basis for the student's Culminating Project and Portfolio requirement.

ET - Engineering and Technology (Realistic)

HHS -Health and Human Services (Social)

SN - Science and Natural Resources (Investigative)

Fields of Study and your High School and Beyond Plan

Students will need to include their 2 credit program of study from a Field of Study area in their High School and Beyond Plan.  To help students in this process, the tables below provide an overview of possible program of study options available to students in the Edmonds School District, as well as sample High School and Beyond Plans for each program of study.  Students may use any of these program of study options to fulfill their 2 credit Field of Study requirement, or work with their counselor to develop a program of study which better aligns to their particular goals and interests.
